White Linen BrunchIn 2007, two years after the Ivy Center Foundation was formed, the first White Linen Brunch (WLB) was held at the Embassy Suites. The WLB is the Foundation’s annual fundraising activity and the forum in which we present awards to individuals who have made a difference in the lives of individuals in our community and to assist people who are in need. Each year, during the brunch, special recognition is given to individuals and/or groups who use their talents and skills to improve the quality of life for local community citizens. The Foundation’s “Making A Difference” award is bestowed on each honoree. In addition, the Foundation gives back to the community a portion of the funds we raise. The needs supplied vary from individuals to other foundations such as Sickle Cell Foundation and Hope Place. To date, we have distributed 69 community service grants to non-profit community-based organizations, 63 individuals and organizations have received “Making a Difference” awards, and 13 scholarships have been given to single parents to continue their education and assist with childcare expenses.
